The 2008 Translation Awards were presented by Sir Peter Stothard, editor of the Times Literary Supplement, at a ceremony in London on 29 September.
The awards, which are administered by the Society of Authors in association with the British Centre for Literary Translation, are presented before the annual Sebald Lecture on literature in translation.
This year, the lecture was given by Louis de Bernières, acclaimed novelist and musician. He read his short story A Day Out for Mehmet Erbil and answered questions afterwards.
